R.I.P. Michael Brecker
Jazz saxophonist Michael Brecker died today in New York City, after a lengthy battle with MDS. For at least the last 8 months, he had been looking for bone marrow donors, and had undergone some experimental treatments, all to no avail. He was 57 years old. He will be missed.

I first heard him play in 1983 when a friend called a few of us over to his dad's house to check out the new Steps Ahead album. Pools, Both Sides of a Coin, Loxodrome- great tunes and every solo was smokin'! That album was instrumental in my growth as a musician - the simmering and building, the intensity and groove of that album... those were good days, and Brecker made them better. See ya some where down the road buddy...
